Hi From the Middle of a Typhoon!!
Well, everybody, please accept our apologies for the lack of updates recently, but we've had real trouble accessing the blog over the last week or so. Anyway, back in now, and with Nic's camera repaired, pictures will appear asap.
Currently in Hoi An, supposedly a place we were to use as a bit of a pit-stop, spending a week here relaxing on the beach. However, those plans have kind of gone out of the window due to the current torrential downpour and imminent typhoon due to hit the Vietnam coast over the next few days. So, currently sat in the hotel, playing pool and watching endless Discovery Channel documentaries (although did get to watch Rambo: First Blood last night - makes me want to don my red headband but probably not the best country to do that in!!!). Been braving the rain over the last 2 days by doing some serious shopping - you would not believe the number of clothes shops here, who will make anything for you. So, to cheer us up during the rain, Nic and I spent just under $1000 on getting a whole wardrobe tailored for us -
Nic - 2 suits, Winter coat, dress
Dene - suit, 3 shirts, jacket, trousers
Anyway, as you can see from the earlier pics, we did manage to get some sun in Nha Trang and did plenty of relaxing on the beach, before taking the overnight bus to Hoi An. Tomorrow we are taking a day trip to My Son (holy land with lots of temples) and then head to Hue on Thursday, which should be nice, although equally wet. Then it's Hanoi on Saturday, where the weather is supposed to be better.
Nic will post some pics soon and we'll try to keep this updated more. Hope everyone is doing well.
